Hailey Gelzer

ARCC Leader Since: 2021
Programs as a Leader: Hawaii Gap, East Africa Gap, Australia & Fiji Summer
Education: Montana State University: BS in Conservation Biology and Ecology

Hailey grew up outside of Charlottesville, VA and from a young age found herself spending more time outside than in. Hailey explored her passion for the environment through school, specifically working in research on river ecosystems. Apart from education, Hailey found herself recreating in any way she could outside with her friends. Hailey took her own gap semester midway through college where she rafted the Grand Canyon and then spent some time in Indonesia and the Philippines. She finished up school in New Zealand and continued her travels, working in Japan and exploring Vietnam. Since graduating from college, Hailey has been working in the seasonal realm in wilderness therapy, river guiding, snowboard instructing, and outdoor education.

In her free time you can find her exploring the backcountry on her snowboard or surfing anywhere she can find waves, playing the guitar, and reading.

Hailey is a compassionate human who loves to foster growth in youth and create meaningful connections in new places. She loves the challenges that come with being outside the comfort zone and seeks to be a life long educator and student.
