Annapurna Poon Hill Trek

Hello Loved Ones,

We hope you are all doing well back home. Here in Nepal things have been very busy. Last week we began our journey up into the mountains. Our journey started Friday November 2nd. With high spirits we hiked for a few hours until we reached the first tea house. We settled in for the night and enjoyed some delicious tea and biscuits, then Sophie – our fitness queen – led the group in some “abs o’clock” action. After our workout we ate dinner and went to bed early in anticipation of a big day ahead. The next day was 7 long & brutal hours of steep uphill, but we took lots of breaks and took it slow. We hiked through terraced hillsides spotted with peoples’ homes and saw the rice harvest. Then we continued uphill, hiking through an epic Rhododendron forest which was extremely beautiful and lush. It was all worth it on the third day when we reached Poon Hill. Whohooooo! Eeeeek! Yay! We did it! All the kiddos got up super early to see the sunrise on the mountains. We left the tea house at 5am and hiked for about an hour under the stars. Thank god we had our guide and porters to lead us – bless their hearts! We arrived just as the magic was beginning. We had a panoramic view of the highest mountains in the world as the sun rose and slowly painted the snow-capped peaks with strokes of golden light. It was truly a wonderful sight. It is moments like these when I feel so grateful to be on this earth bearing witness to all of Earth’s beautiful blessings. The next two days were downhill and easy, hiking through more of the lush, waterfall-filled forest which we likened to being in Narnia. Now we are off to our next adventure – celebrating Tihar (Diwali) in a village. The grind never stops folks…
